The Carl Chavis YMCA Youth Summer Basketball Program focuses on the fundamentals and basics of basketball such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and communication while in a fun, safe, family-friendly environment. We pride ourselves on teaching each and every child character values such as honest, caring, respect, responsibility and faith.
Program Details
- Ten, weekly one-hour practices.
- Eight games throughout the season.
- Tournament play for athletes ages 9+.
- All players will receive a team jersey.
- All coaches are volunteers.
- Registration can be completed at the Carl Chavis YMCA or register online HERE.

- Family Hoops: 3-4 years old
- Hoopsters: 5-8 years old
- Ballers: 9-15 years old (Will participate in a tournament)

If you are interested in coaching, please contact Isaiah McCluney at 336-434-4000 or via email at imccluney@hpymca.org. All coaching requirements can be found online at hpymca.org in the Youth Sports tab under 'Coaching.' Coaches will get to choose their practice day as well as what time they would like to practice. Practice materials will be provided by the YMCA. (Materials include practice plans, balls, cones, and pennies.)
