Qualifications:

  • One-year experience driving a mini-bus or bus.
  • Valid NC Driver’s License for mini-bus or valid CDL for bus; CDL preferred, or willingness to obtain CDL.

Child Watch

General Function:

Under the guidance of the Aquatic Director, the babysitter safely and effectively supervises children of members and guest while they are using our facility.  The Babysitter is responsible for the activities in Child Watch and providing a safe, well-rounded, enriching environment for infants and children.

 

Essential Function:

  • Auditory ability to respond to all incidents.
  • Physical ability to perform emergency procedures and routine first aid tasks.
  • Abilities to enforce safety regulations, emergency procedures, and appropriate discipline techniques.
  • Physical ability to operate emergency exits and perform emergency procedures.
  • Ability to lead and participate in activities that will make the Child Watch a fun, safe, and enriching environment. 

Principle Activities:

  • Supervise nursery during assigned hours providing attention and care for all children according to need.
  • Ensure safety of all children at all times taking careful measures to prevent accidents.
  • Maintain cleanliness of nursery.
  • Clean Child Watch upon arrival and departure.
  • Follow appropriate sanitary procedures when performing first aid or changing and disposing of soiled diapers or lines.
  • Work with entire staff to implement all activities in a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Use positive discipline techniques when addressing children.
  • Attend all trainings and staff meetings.
  • Inform Aquatic Director of needs for Child Watch and any incidents that occur.
  • Be at work at scheduled times or let the Aquatic Director know at least two days in advance who is covering your shift.

Head Counselor (Girls Camp)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction and daily supervision of the Personnel Director, Cabin Life Director, and Camp Director, the Head Counselor is responsible for all aspects of Cabin Life, working with both staff and campers.  The Head Counselor is part of the Leadership Staff and supervises the Senior Counselors, Junior Counselors and Counselors-in Training. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Adheres and comply with the YMCA of High Point Employee Manual, Policy & Procedures Manual, Code of Conduct and Camp Cheerio Staff Standards & Expectations.
  • Visits cabins on opening and closing days to monitor staff preparedness, interaction with parents and interaction/engagement with campers.
  • Organizes counselors for opening and closing ceremonies.
  • Remain knowledgeable and aware of campers with special needs, such as eating habits, dietary concerns, health issues, relational concerns, etc.
  • Visits cabins daily during cabin clean-up times to assist and monitor.
  • Visits cabins on a daily basis to check in with counselors, develop relationships with counselors, and assist in meeting their needs and addressing any concerns.
  • Observes cabin devotions on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for the welfare of campers and staff, providing solutions to problems and concerns.
  • Reviews camper confidential forms prior to the start of each session.
  • Informs Directors of any camper or staff issues regarding safety and conflicts.
  • Assists in camper activity sign-ups when available on opening days.
  • Recognizes and assists campers and/or staff struggling to adjust to the camp atmosphere and lifestyle, such as homesickness or health issues.
  • Assists in ensuring the morale of staff by monitoring staff relationships with co-counselors, peers and supervisors, as well as monitoring their rest, time off, and recreational activities available to them.
  • Communicates with parents of campers when needed.
  • Monitors campers and counselors throughout the day, being available to assist in areas of concern.
  • Provides feedback to counselors on their performance, both positive and needed corrections.
  • Communicates with Directors the performance of all staff in weekly meetings or as needed.
  • Evaluates the camp program and assists in setting objectives so staff can meet expectations of the camp program.
  • Assists in evaluating counselors formally in written and face to face format, providing a midway and final evaluation.
  • Supervises and checks the writing of all staff reports as they pertain to campers and programs (camper development forms, postcards home, etc.).
  • Provides feedback and discipline to counselors privately and efficiently for actions that cause a camper/staff’s health and/or safety to be at risk.
  • Monitors counselors by spending time in and with cabins, ensuring all counselors fulfill their duties as per the counselor job descriptions.
  • Serves as an active member of the Leadership Staff, assisting in a weekend camper supervision, evaluations, and participating as a leader in other areas of camp as determined by the Camp Director.  
  • Submits all required reports on time (camper development forms, lesson plans, etc.).
  • Administers basic first aid until qualified medical personnel arrive.
  • Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Conducts behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on the YMCA.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as requested by immediate supervisor to facilitate efficient and effective operation of the YMCA.

 

 

Health and Wellness Coach

Position Summary:
Under the direction and daily supervision of the Wellness Director, the Health & Wellness Coach is responsible for welcoming, connecting and supporting members to help them meet their health and wellness goals. Duties include greeting all members, giving new member orientation to the fitness area, assisting members with equipment training, and maintaining the cleanliness of the fitness area. Flexible schedule including early morning, evenings and weekends.

Essential Functions:
1. Adheres and complies with the YMCA of High Point Employee Manual, Policy & Procedures Manual, and Code of Conduct.
2. Creates a safe environment in which all individuals feel welcomed and respected; builds relationships by connecting members to one another.
3. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
4. Communicates appropriately with individuals based on readiness to change; coaches them in support of their desired healthy lifestyle and regularly checks on members' progress towards their goals.
5. Shares wellness program information with members, using available tools and resources (e.g., handouts, schedules, or applications).
6. Responds to emergency situations, including administering first aid, CPR, and AED.
7. Maintains a professional appearance by wearing YMCA approved attire and nametag so members can be easily recognized staff for questions or concerns.
8. Enforces the age requirements that are mandated to members, in order to be able to use the equipment.
9. Enforces Health and Wellness department policies to members and guests by positive and professional communication.
10. Complete opening and closing procedures at the beginning and end of shift.
11. Maintains and cleans fitness center and equipment according to the schedule or as requested by supervisor. Reports any damage or maintenance needed to supervisor.
12. Assists with maintaining proper records and files.
13. Represents the YMCA with key community organizations and events as required.
14. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
15. Attends all staff meetings, in-service trainings, and other meetings as required by supervisors.

Maintenance Technician

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization
committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and
social responsibility. The Maintenance Technician at the YMCA of High Point
intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful,
nurturing, and determined while also assisting with the maintenance and improvement
of YMCA facilities and vehicles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist in overall coordination of facility and vehicle maintenance, including
preventative maintenance.


2. Ensures that assigned vehicles and other equipment are maintained and operated in
accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA as directed by Facility
Director.


3. Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Works with contractors that
work in the facility and on the YMCA campus grounds.


4. Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure
compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.


5. Reports to supervisor on maintenance issues and projects as requested and repair
as directed.


6. Ensures that equipment and supplies are stocked and maintained and in accordance
with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.


7. Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report any incidents
and hazardous conditions to supervisor.

8. Completes all duties listed on a daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned
area and equipment. Duties include, but are not limited to, trash removal, recycling,
window washing, pool cleaning and repair, painting, vacuuming, and worksite cleanup.


9. Obtains and maintains maintenance certification for equipment as applicable.

 

Member Services Coordinator – Grubb

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Lead Front Desk Representative delivers excellent customer service to all members, guests and program participants.  Responsibilities include membership billing, creating front desk schedules, training front desk staff in Daxko, responding to member and guest needs, promoting membership and programs, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the lobby and front desk areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Adheres and complies with the YMCA of High Point Employee Manual, Policy & Procedures Manual, and Code of Conduct.
  2. Creates monthly schedule for front desk staff ensuring staffing during all open hours and fills voids as necessary.
  3. Communicates with all front desk staff to ensure uniform statements and accurate communication to members on all programming.
  4. Trains all front desk staff in Daxko.
  5. Submits all senior membership billing by the fifth of every month. Follows up on payment and rebills as necessary.
  6. Processes all billing invoices for members and organizations.
  7. Ensures all membership changes are accurately and timely processed in Daxko, alerting the Senior Program Director of any issues or need for refunds.
  8. Provides excellent customer service to members, guests and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  9. Builds relationships with members, helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.

Wellness Center Staff
