Free Teen Membership
FREE MEMBERSHIPS FOR TEENS
The YMCA Teen Membership program is an association-wide initiative we began during the summer of 2018. The goal of this program is to engage 13-17 year-olds in our community in all 3 of our local branches - Chavis, Grubb, and Hartley. This FREE program allows all kids in our service area to have a Y experience.
In 2019, the program was expanded from a summer program to a year-round initiative. All teens who are enrolled enjoy the Y any day that our public schools are not in class. In the summer of 2019, the YMCA collaborated with the High Point Chamber of Commerce to facilitate Teen Leadership High Point. Twenty-six teens participated in the pilot of the 6-week program, modeled after the Chamber's 10-month adult Leadership High Point curriculum, which gave the youth a greater exposure to our community and its leaders.
The Out of School Teen Membership program is funded by the generous donations to the Friends of the Y Annual Campaign, as well as targeted fundraisers, such as our Annual Clay Shoot Event.
