POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Association Sports Director, the Sports Program Coordinator assists with the day-to-day operations of the youth and adult sports programs, ensuring the programs meet their goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Adheres and complies with the YMCA of High Point Employee Manual, Policy & Procedures Manual, and Code of Conduct.
  2. Assists with Association Sports Director with youth and adult sports program, including maintaining fields and facilities, ensuring activities and events are performed on a timely basis, maintaining and transporting program equipment for games and practices, and communicating with coaches, parents and officials as needed.
  3. Maintains game records, scores and other information essential to the sport.
  4. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions; maintains regular, clear and concise communication within area of responsibility; mains clear line of communication with Association Sports Director during programs regarding potential disturbances, i.e., unruly spectators.
  5. Coordinates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations. Schedules parent orientation meetings, and training and meetings for coaches.
  6. Coordinates and distributes team practice and game schedules; schedules sports officials; and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.
  7. Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes
    team photographs.
  8. Organizes season parties and events, promoting healthy eating and good nutrition.
  9. Organizes and schedules sports clinics.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of youth sports program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
  • Assists Association Sports Director with the youth and adult sports program ensuring scheduled activities or events are running on time.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as required by supervisors.
  • Conducts behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on the YMCA.
  • Assists in all other programs and functions of the Branch as deemed necessary or appropriate by supervisors.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum age of 21.
  2. Completion within 30 days of hire CPR/First Aid/O2 Certifications.
  3. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  4. Basic knowledge of rules, regulations and implementation of the following sports and sports leagues: youth and adult basketball, youth soccer, youth and adult volleyball.

  • Ability to see and hear individuals within program areas that include a wide variety of both indoor and outdoor locations, communicate verbally and in writing, to sit or stand for long periods of time, and to perform activities which require sustained concentration and attention.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple programs/projects.
