Carl & Linda Grubb Family YMCA
Grubb Youth Soccer
2026 Youth Spring Soccer
We’re excited to share that we are moving from age-based divisions to grade-based divisions. Our goal is simple: make registration easier for families and create a more connected, fun, and organized experience for our athletes.
Join us this spring for another season of fun, skill-building, and teamwork on the soccer field! The YMCA of High Point’s Youth Soccer Program emphasizes the fundamentals of soccer—passing, shooting, teamwork—within a fun, family-friendly environment. We teach and reinforce character values such as honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, and faith in every practice and game.
New Grade-Based Division Breakdown
Athletes will be placed based on their current school grade, which parents will indicate during registration. Because summer program registrations open before the school year ends, they will register with the grade they were in during the 2025-2026 school year. Fall Sports will begin with their 2026-2027 school year.

- Socially Aligned Teams
Kids play with classmates and peers they already know, helping them feel more comfortable and confident.
- More Fun & Better Retention
Familiar faces = stronger friendships, more enjoyment, and athletes who want to keep coming back.

Team Sideline will serve as the central communication and scheduling platform for YMCA youth sports.
- Accounts will be created by the YMCA of High Point using the email address you provide during registration
- Each family will have one place to access everything, including: Team assignments, practice schedules, game schedules and standings, group chats with coaches and team families
The Team Sideline app is free to download. After player evaluations, families should watch their email for an invitation to join the league and activate their account.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the YMCA use grade-based placement?
Grade-based placement helps children play with peers of similar social and emotional development, supporting confidence, teamwork, and enjoyment.
What if my child is older or younger than most children in their grade?
Age guidelines are reviewed to ensure safety. YMCA staff may adjust placement if there is a concern.
Can I request a specific team, coach, friend, or practice day?
Requests may be noted during registration, but cannot be guaranteed. Final placement decisions are made by YMCA staff.
How are practice days determined?
Our volunteer coaches get to decide which practice day and time work for them. When your team announcement is sent, it will also include all practice information.
What if my child has special needs?
The YMCA welcomes children of all abilities and will work with families to provide appropriate support and determine the best placement.
Inclusion & Individual Considerations
The YMCA is committed to inclusion and serving all youth. Placement exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis for developmental readiness, special needs or accommodations, previous experience, or safety considerations. Families are encouraged to contact YMCA staff with questions prior to registration.
