HIGH POINT — The YMCA of High Point held its 5 Before the Feast, an annual Thanksgiving Day 5K & Family Fun Run, on Thursday morning at the Hartley Drive Family YMCA.

“This year, we had more than 750 participants who braved the chill to come out and work off the Thanksgiving calories they would be eating later that day,” said Lynn Meredith, marketing/IT director, YMCA of High Point. “The weather was brisk, but beautiful—perfect for an early morning run. This event has grown larger every year, with runners and walkers ranging from babies to seniors, and several furry family members as well.”

Members of the Beane family travel from across the state and as far away as Maryland and Michigan to participate.

“The Beane family makes it a tradition every other year to do the 5 Before the Feast,” Garet Beane said. “We love this event and look forward to it every year. Thank you to the Y’s Men and the Hartley YMCA for organizing this great event.”

Participants also dropped off new unwrapped toys for children under 13 as part of the YMCA Holiday Toy Drive.
