COVID-19 Updates

Update: November 24, 2020. New Mask Requirements

Per Governor Roy Cooper's Executive Order #180, face coverings are now required in all public indoor areas. The YMCA of High Point is committed to the health and safety of our members, staff and community. Effective Wednesday, November 25 at 5:00 PM, masks will be required at all times inside YMCA facilities, including while exercising. Wearing a mask not only keeps our friends and family safe, it is critical to keeping our YMCA open. We are not currently accepting any exceptions to this rule. We appreciate your support and participation in this new initiative!

Update September 8, 2020

We are so excited to welcome our members and program participants back on September 8, 2020! The YMCA of High Point is implementing new precautionary procedures all of our branches to help ensure the safety of our members, staff, and volunteers.

We practice the 3 Ws (WAIT. WASH. WEAR).

  • We wait 6 ft apart
  • We wash our hands (and provide hand sanitizer throughout the facility)
  • We wear face coverings over our nose and mouth inside the facility and when social distancing is not possible outdoors (Indoor exception for masking protocol is when someone is vigorously exercising or in the pool).

Face Coverings

All YMCA staff and participants ages 5 and older are required to wear cloth face coverings within the facility, and when interacting with members and participants on YMCA grounds. The only exception to this rule is that members are not required to wear a face covering while actively engaging in a YMCA wellness activity, and abiding by proper social distancing guidelines. Face coverings must cover each individual's nose and mouth.

Temperature Checks

All YMCA staff and participants are required to have their temperature taken upon arrival to any branch. Please do not come to the Y if you have a fever above 100 degrees. Health Questionnaire as entering the facility and participating in programs.

Social Distancing

The YMCA of High Point maintains a strict social distancing policy. Outdoor group exercise participants are required to maintain a distance of 10 feet apart from other participants, and wellness equipment has been set up to ensure that all members can have a safe, enjoyable experience.

Updated Liability Waiver

All members and program participants must complete a Liability Waiver before making their first visit to the branch, or complete a waiver at the front desk on your first visit. Parent/Guardian(s) must sign for youth under age 18. Further information about our updated liability waiver can be found here

Building Entrances

Utilize the front entrance of the branch. Only one entrance/exit is available at this time.

Fitness Equipment

Please make sure to bring your own mat, workout towel, and water bottle each visit. No towel service is available and water fountains are for bottle fill only.

Child Watch

Child watch services are not available at this time.

Cleaning Equipment

Cleaning is everyone's responsibility. Please make an extra effort to wipe down equipment and spaces you have utilized. Staff will be vigorously cleaning during the day with extra nightly cleaning and the facility will be closed mid-afternoon for cleaning. Keeping the Y safe is up to all of us!

Programs and Services already underway:

As you participate in Y programs and services, be sure to review our safety protocols.  We realize this is a challenging time and we eagerly await the opportunity to see our Y family.  Look for more services to open in the coming weeks, such as the RENOVATED Hartley Indoor Pool, branch Splash Pads and more health and wellness opportunities.  We will keep you updated as we learn more about our full facility opening with the Governor's Phase 3 announcement.

Update July 8, 2020:
