Full-Time Child Care Lead Teacher

The Carl Chavis Memorial YMCA Child Care Center, a five-star child care facility, has a full-time Child Care Lead Teacher opening. This position requires applicants to have child care credentials and a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood education, experience in supervision of children and the ability to positively interact and engage with children from infancy through school age. Flexibility to work between the hours of 6:00 am to 6:00 pm is also required. Preferred applicants would have an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood or working towards degree. Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. Excellent benefit package.

Group Exercise Instructor

Job Type: Part-Time

General Function:

To instruct safe and effective group exercise classes to YMCA members and program participants.

 

Essential Function:

 

Auditory ability to respond to critical incidents.

Ability to perform routine first aid tasks.

Abilities to enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.

Physical ability to operate emergency exits and perform emergency procedures.

Ability to participate in activities that will help all participants experience success.

Principle Activates:

  1. Attend staff meetings/in-service trainings and workshops.
  2. Relay corrective feedback to class participants.
  3. Maintain a professional appearance by wearing appropriate attire.
  4. Conduct safe and effective fitness classes.
  5. Relay appropriate health and fitness information to participants.
  6. Maintain all essential certifications including, but not limited to CPR and First Aid.
  7. Maintain neatness of individual class area.
  8. Promptly report any problems or broken equipment to the Health & Fitness Director.
  9. Enforce Hartley Drive Family YMCA Policies.
  10. Other duties as assigned by the Health & Fitness Director.
 

Lifeguard

Job Type: Part-Time

AVAILABILITY:

UPDATED 12/13/16:  Shifts available 6am to 4pm

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area. 
  2. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model. Completes related reports as required.
  3. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
  4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
  5. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  6. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
  7. Performs chemical testing when not guarding , as required, and takes appropriate action.
  8. Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.

Maintenance Technician

Location: Hartley Drive Family YMCA

Job Type: Full-Time

Under the direction of the Facilities Director, perform maintenance and cleaning duties for all areas of the Hartley Drive Family YMCA facilities and vehicles, including preventative maintenance. Job duties may include the Grubb and Chavis branches as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides facility maintenance, including preventative maintenance.
  2. Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems.
  3. Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner, prioritizing duties under the supervision of the Facilities Director.
  4. Informs Facilities Director, or appropriate management staff, of any maintenance or risk issues discovered while performing job duties.
  5. Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.
  6. Assists in maintaining cleanliness of the facility.
  7. Advises management on maintenance issues and projects as requested.
  8. Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
  9. Assists Facilities Director in updating facility plans periodically. May assist Facilities Director in developing annual plan of capital projects, consistent with the YMCA’s strategic plan and community needs.

 

 

Summer Camp Counselor

  7. Maintain a professional appearance by wearing appropriate staff shirt and name badge.
  8. Other duties as assigned by Health & Fitness Director
