2025 Counselors in Training
For over 50 years, the Hartley Drive YMCA has supported summer camp-based programming that encourages young people to grow in spirit, mind, and body. Our YMCA is committed to providing trained professional staff for summer camps that will uphold our mission and character values.
The YMCA selects teenagers (rising 9th and 10th graders) during the summer to participate in our C.I.T. Program. This program is designed to provide opportunities to develop and sharpen leadership skills. Teens will acquire the knowledge that will help prepare them to become an effective counselor and successful adult. This is a perfect opportunity to earn service-learning hours, grow as a leader, observe counselors, work with children, and become exposed to employment for the first time.

2025 C.I.T. Program Fees
A $25 deposit per session is due at registration. The registration fee includes a C.I.T. t-shirt, breakfast, lunch and all field trips.

How to Apply
Step 1: Retrieve a C.I.T. Application by clicking the button below or stop by the Hartley Drive Family YMCA and ask our Member Services Desk Associates for assistance.
Step 2: Acquire two personal references to complete the Reference Questionnaire. These references cannot be family members. They must be teachers, coaches or community members.
Step 3: Completely fill out the application and turn it in by April 16th to the Hartley Drive Family YMCA of email it to Ally Snuggs at asnuggs@hpymca.org.
Step 4: Once your application is received with your references and your application is accepted, you will receive an email inviting you to a mandatory group interview session on Saturday, May 10th from 10:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
Step 5: After the interview, you will receive an email stating whether you were accepted into the program or not. If accepted, you will be signed up for the sessions you originally requested, and your parents or guardians will be contacted to collect payment.

2025 Camp Pioneer Open House
We will host our Open House June 13, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to see the camp grounds, meet the staff, and ask questions. We will also present each camper with their camper shirt and operate our pool for swim tests. If your child takes their swim test during the Open House, they will not have to take one during camp. This will provide them with more swim time. Please take advantage of this event and participate in our Open House! Check in for Open House will take place in the cul-de-sac behind the Y at the entrance of Camp Pioneer. We encourage you to park in our back parking lot and walk down the hill to camp.
