Hartley Drive Family YMCA

Camp Pioneer at the Hartley YMCA

Camp Pioneer

For many years, the YMCA Camp Pioneer day camp program has provided children in the High Point and Jamestown areas with a fun and safe place to spend their summer days. Camp Pioneer runs Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm on the Hartley Drive Family YMCA grounds at 150 West Hartley Drive in High Point.

Campers will have the opportunity to participate in activities such as the splash pad, crafts, archery, skits, songs, sports, games, hiking and much more. Camp Pioneer counselors are carefully selected and thoroughly trained in YMCA child care principles, CPR and First Aid. Sessions begin June 1 and are for Rising K-7th graders.

Our CIT program is a leadership program for rising 8th and 9th graders.  CITs focus on leadership skills and have activities that are geared towards campers with more mature needs. These activities will include service projects, assisting with Camp Pioneer daily activities, mentoring younger campers and much more.  CITs in this program are no longer just campers, they are leaders too. So only those who want to truly invest their time should apply for this experience. CITs must interview for the program with the Camp Director.

CIT Perks!

  • Learning leadership skills
  • Building self-esteem

Camp Essentials

Campers should bring a good attitude because you are required to be happy!

Wear your swimsuit on Monday/Wednesday/Friday because you do not want to play in the Splash Pad in your clothes.
