After School Counselor-Carl Chavis Y

Aquatics Coordinator

Job Type: Full Time - Location: Grubb Family YMCA

 

 

 

 

The Carl & Linda Grubb Family YMCA has an immediate opening for a full-time Aquatics Coordinator.   This position will assist the Sr. Associate Executive Director with all aspects of a brand new Aquatic Center.  High school diploma or GED and one to two years’ lifeguard experience and current lifeguard, CPR/AED, and first aid certification required.  Swim lesson experience preferred.  Certified Pool Operator preferred.   Candidates must be available to work   a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.  Compensation is commensurate with experience.  Excellent benefit package.  Send resumes to aallmer@hpymca.org .

Full-Time Child Care Lead Teacher

Job Type: Full Time - Location: Carl Chavis Memorial YMCA

The Carl Chavis Memorial YMCA Child Care Center, a five-star child care facility, has a full-time Child Care Lead Teacher opening. This position requires applicants to have child care credentials and a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood education, experience in supervision of children and the ability to positively interact and engage with children from infancy through school age. Flexibility to work between the hours of 6:00 am to 6:00 pm is also required. Preferred applicants would have an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood or working towards degree. Group Exercise Instructor

Job Type: Part Time - Location: Grubb Family YMCA

General Function:

To instruct safe and effective group exercise classes to YMCA members and program participants.

 

Essential Function:

 

Auditory ability to respond to critical incidents.

Ability to perform routine first aid tasks.

Abilities to enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.

Physical ability to operate emergency exits and perform emergency procedures.

Ability to participate in activities that will help all participants experience success.

 

Principle Activates:

 

  1. Attend staff meetings/in-service trainings and workshops.
  2. Relay corrective feedback to class participants.
  3. Maintain a professional appearance by wearing appropriate attire.
  4. Conduct safe and effective fitness classes.
  5. Relay appropriate health and fitness information to participants.
  6. Maintain all essential certifications including, but not limited to CPR and First Aid.
  7. Maintain neatness of individual class area.
  8. Promptly report any problems or broken equipment to the Health & Fitness Director.
  9. Enforce Hartley Drive Family YMCA Policies.
  10. Other duties as assigned by the Health & Fitness Director.

Lifeguard

Job Type: Part Time - Location: Grubb Family YMCA

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area. 
  2. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model. Completes related reports as required.
  3. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
  4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
  5. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  6. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
  7. Performs chemical testing when not guarding , as required, and takes appropriate action.
  8. Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
